I have a 55inch Panasonic TV on it and it fits great. -The shelves are tall enough to fit a PS3, XBOX360, and my ATT U-Verse boxes (laying down). The Wii fits but it has to go further back because it's too tall to sit right up front, but still fits and I have no problems. Lol I like video games I guess. -The design looks very modern and professional and makes your living room look very nice. -Great price from Amazon and I got free shipping. Other sites had it way over what I paid. (If you just bought a 55inch LED TV, price really matters). -Not too hard to set up took about an hour (more about that in the "cons"). -Great height. When I sit on my couch (and they're all different, but mine is pretty average) I can see the middle to the tv at eye level so it's perfect. :-) Cons:-Package and glass is HEAVY. I had to lug it back to my apatment from the main office (about 400m) and I was smoked. Weighs at least 100lbs. I stopped for several breaks and had several people stare at me lol. -The WORST part was that the screw that holds back panel did not screw in no matter what I did. It wasn't worth it to pack it all up to return it so I just got a hammer and slammed it in there, but it's not very secure and I just don't use it (don't put cords through the back holes). Since it's a open back, it's just basically cosmetic, but it really bugs me. Make sure you keep the boxes during construction. -Construction could be confusing to some, but it's pretty straight forward if you've ever seen a screw driver before. The real con of it is it does take almost an hour set up. Have a friend help you because once it's constructed, you'll need someone else to help you move it in place (unless you're the Hulk).Hope that helps. I gave it the 4 stars instead of the 5 because the screw problem, but if you don't have that, this is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. The top is veneer, but has a solid wood molding running around the perimeter. The feet are solid as well. The back panel has several openings in the appropriate locations to route cables through. The back panel is made from a dense cardboard, but I couldn't tell this was the case until I needed to cut one of the openings a little wider to accommodate an unusually deep stereo component. That turned out to be convenient as it can be cut with a box cutter if needed.The black paint finish has a satin sheen and the wood grain if visible through it- quite nice for a mass-produced piece. Brushed nickel doorknob hardware finish is also attractive. This item is extremely well packaged for shipping and arrived in perfect condition about 1-1/2 weeks after ordering. It is not quite fully assembled however - the feet and door hardware must be attached. That took only about 15 min. including placing the shelves at the desired height. Dimensions of the two component compartments are approx 18-1/4" W x 17-3/4" H x 18" D (without the 3/4" thick shelves). The center compartment is about 8-3/4" wide. The door latches protrude slightly into this space which prevented my stereo amplifier from sliding in. I removed the latch (2 screws), inserted the component and then replaced the latch - problem solved.The console gets all the components out of view, but they're easily accessible. My TV is set up on top of the fireplace, so I wasn't looking for something that would take my TV. I needed something not too big and not too small to take all of my components, and also to hide the wires coming out of the bottom of the wall. I bought something from IKEA, but after assembly, I did not like the look or the fit of it in my living room. Mainly, it did not do a great job of hiding any of the wires. I went back to the drawing boards and finally found this at my local Best Buy. The price tag was steep ($500), but my wife loved the design. It had sliding doors so our 3 ½ year old would not easily get into it, and also, everything would be hidden behind doors. It also had this hidden compartment above the sliding doors, where you can put DVDs, speakers, or anything else that would fit. So I came back home, and saw it on Amazon for $350 (plus $70 for shipping) so I was sold. It came in pretty quick, 2-3 days after I ordered it.Now I'll say few words about the assembly. I have assembled many other office furniture pieces in the past which required a few tools, so this assembly wasn't too bad. That being said, I have to disagree with Bell'O about the "No tools Assembly" thing. While you definitely can assemble this with no tools, I think using tools makes it go a lot faster, and more accurate and sturdy. I have no complaints about the quality of the wood. It was better than the IKEA piece I bought before. After it was all assembled, it does look very nice. I like the fact that it has ventilation slots built in, and also built in holes for the wires to go through. I have my cable box, DVD players, Denon receiver, and my Wii console all in it, with room to spare.Overall, I like the design and construction of this unit. It does exactly what I needed it to do. Unfortunately, the quality and finish of all materials used are far below what anyone would expect for this price. The appearance when assembled looks cheap, and clearly will look worse and worse with only a little use. The design does not facilitate access, cabling, or cooling for electronic equipment, as you would expect.The manufacturer packs the parts with inadequate protection, so they arrive all scratched, and in my case with the corners of both the top and bottom panels chipped and broken, detracting further. All parts are in a single cardboard box, which is too heavy to ship by UPS (and too heavy for one person to lift). Amazon's inside delivery was very careful, and the Salamander box arrived "in apparent good order"--all the damage was hidden inside the box, caused by its poor packaging design. My package was also missing the important "template" for marking locations of parts, which made assembly more difficult, but even if I'd had the template the assembly would have been unnecessarily intricate and complicated. Assembly takes a couple of hours, and requires tools not included. Assembly instructions are poorly written and illustrated. (To see all this done right, order similar technology furniture from Anthro, where every part arrives cradled in perfect packaging, in multiple boxes so it can be shipped by UPS, and assembly is simple and straightforward, with all needed high-quality tools included.) I'm going to look for this same layout and dimensions, but in a better quality and with more appropriate design, to replace the Salamander cabinet as soon as possible. I did, however, have a few issues with the stands on setup;1) The thread path for one of the top plate attachment bolts was partially stripped, making the setup a bit slower than it should be2) The bolts that attach the top and bottom plates to the center column use very tightly spaced, small threads, and they are very cumbersome to screw in with the supplied wrench.My only other complaint is the price really, for a fraction of the price of these, you could get some nice Sanus stands (if they fit the style you're looking for). Sharp pictures at reasonable prices are typical of Toshiba TVs, which may well be the best buys currently available.Yes, this model -- despite it's sharp picture -- is not high-definition and it has the traditional 4:3 aspect ratio rather than a widescreen 16:9 ratio. But my cable system currently broadcasts 175 channels in the traditional 4:3 aspect ratio and only 9 widescreen high-definition channels. Widescreen 16:9 TVs have smaller pictures with gray bars on the side when displaying traditional 4:3 channels. Furthermore, because the screen on this TV is so large, when I watch letter-boxed widescreen DVDs the picture size is quite acceptable.Widescreen high-definition broadcasts and widescreen high-definition TVs will be the norm in a few years, at which time the prices of such sets will be significantly lower than they are now. Where do I buy Lovan Affiniti 29" Speaker Stands, Piano Black (1 pair) Sturdy and solid.By KCCjrI bought the 29" tall version of the piano black Lovan stands. The contents were packaged solidly by the manufacturer, but poorly boxed by Amazon. The Amazon box was too big, loosely filled (for 26lbs of metal), and poorly taped. Fortunately, the original box was fine and all the metal parts were wrapped well enough for the journey. The piano black paint wasn't particularly smooth, it showed some orange peel surface. The seams on the vertical box tubes was evident mainly because of the glossy paint. The stands are very sturdy and solid. The instructions are sufficient. The picture on the instruction sheet show the back box tube turned 90 degrees from the front one. The floor spikes aren't super sharp and the cap nuts didn't have as glossy a finish as the stand itself. You could see some of the paint seemed buffed off a little. From a distance, you can't tell. Supposedly, one can fill the stands with lead shot or sand. However, each end of the box tube has a recessed cap with a threaded receptacle for the allen screws that bind the plates to the tubes. Unless one is supposed to fill the tubes through this tiny opening, there is no practical way to further weigh or dampen the resonant frequency of the stands. Sure, fill a 29" tall tube with sand or shot through a hole smaller than a straw, I dare you! I never intended to. Assembly is easy. It took me about 10 minutes total. An allen key was provided, too. I put Polk LSi9 on top (14-7/8" H x 8-5/8", 33lbs each) and they are stable. I chose the piano black to complement the piano black finish on the speakers. Visually, the combination of speakers and stands is unobtrusive. Functionally, these would rate about 4.5 stars. But the finish (for $40 more than matte black) is decided lack-lustre and brings the total review to 3 stars. I've been on the lookout for a great stand at a great price for a few months now and finally settled on this one after exhaustive researching. The price dropped to $265 + Free shipping and I just couldn't pass that up!First things first, this baby weights A LOT! I still can't believe they shipped it for free. I was a little intimidated after opening the box and seeing all the parts. But after taking a deep breath, laying everything out nicely and browsing the instructions briefly it wasn't bad at all and everything made sense. I almost had a heart attack when I thought one of the support feet were missing but a quick check back into the box with tons of wrapping and foam to keep the parts safe and I found it. I didn't time myself but I'm thinking maybe a good 60 to 90 minutes putting this one together is about right. I love the color and finish on this. While it is black it almost has a dark brown feel about the color which is perfect for my setup. While some have made mention of the center area which isn't big enough for a normal/standard center channel it wasn't a problem for me. Even though mine would easily fit as I have the Sony HTIS-100 I chose to set it on top anyways. The two storage areas on either side aren't huge but they have adjustable shelves and are the right size for standard components and with the windows you shouldn't have any problems with the remotes. I'm at a point now where I don't feel the need to display all my components and would rather focus on the TV itself and this stand is perfect for that. It also sits at just the right height to accentuate viewing of my 52" Sony XBR9 whereas my last stand sat rather low. This one is perfect. Overall I'm very impressed with this item. Great quality construction, fairly easy to put together, great price and incredibly good looks you really can't go wrong. I also liked that with the doors you have the capability to mount them on either side for opening depending on your setup. A real nice touch for flexibility. Overall I'm VERY happy with this product and would highly recommend it to anyone with a 42 to 55" TV. Ryan ColeI bought this at Circuit City, to go with my new Sony Bravia S-Series KDL-40S4100 40-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV. I was assured that it was universal and would work perfectly well with the TV I bought; apparently the sales rep had no clue what he was talking about.First off, the assembly instructions are terrible, and the mounting instructions are even worse. It comes with far more pieces than you'll use, and the instructions are often vague about which pieces are which. I ended up having to backtrack during the assembly process (not much, but enough to be annoying) a few times, which meant disassembling something after realizing I had done it incorrectly.The mounting instructions, because they are "universal," are ambiguous and confusing. You get literally no visual cues about which pieces to use. It says things like, "Determine which piece is appropriate for your TV," and then moves on to the next step. I don't know how we're meant to determine which parts are appropriate, since the included parts aren't listed or labeled. I ended up having to use trial and error to determine which of the many types of screws and brackets I'd need to use. I only actually needed two brackets and a handful of screws, out of the dozens of pieces in the assembly kit.This could be forgiven if the mounting kit were truly universal. It's not. Although my TV is now mounted, the mounting bracket juts out in front of all my connection ports. Two HDMI ports, the VGA port, and all the composite ports are rendered practically useless by this piece. There's a space of about two inches between the bracket and the ports, so some connectors have just enough room to fit, but others (like a VGA cable) don't. And for the ones that do fit, I have to insert them at an angle, coming into the port with a swooping motion. Once they're in, I'm scared to try to pull them out for fear of damaging the ports, since it's impossible to pull them straight out. The only other option is to unmount the TV and remove the bracket every time you want to plug in or unplug a device, and you may find remounting impossible once you plug in certain devices.(This could, of course, be Sony's not-so-subtle hint that you should buy one of their mounting brackets instead of something like this. But I'm not aware of a stand/shelving unit combo made by Sony, and I don't want my TV mounted to the wall.)The stand itself is a little wobbly once you've got it all assembled. This is true even without a TV mounted on it. Not only do the back feet not hit the ground, but the glass shelves are attached by a single screw at the center in the back. The rubber stoppers don't do much to keep them in place if you accidentally bump into the unit (or if, say, you have cats that like to jump on all your furniture).Dense instructions and flimsiness aside, this thing does what it's supposed to do. It'll mount a wide range of TVs, and it has shelves for your other devices. But the idea of a universal mount, it seems to me, is not practical, and I wish I'd bought a non mounting unit and just used the base stand that came with my TV. Either do that or use a wall mount. I thought the stands were a bit expensive, but liked their looks when comparing them to other stands. I made a good choice. They are rock solid, look good and are ingeniously designed. The height adjustment is accomplished using plastic spacers that are completely hidden by the plastic collar at the top and the extension tube on the base. I was able to set the speakers to the height I wanted. The stands can be filled with sand but I didn't bother with that step because the stands are heavy and I don't feel they need any additional damping unless considerably larger speakers are used. They are perfect for the Klipsch B2 speakers.
